My neighbor grows yellow squash and zucchini. This year, the zucs didn't do so hot, so I spent the summer doing things with yellow squash (which is fine by me; I prefer it).

Testing a bunch of recipes and making your own with all the elements you like is a brilliant idea. That's what we did with pad thai. But MY idea is even more brilliant: wait until you test all your recipes, find your uber-recipe, post it, and then I make what you make! It's brilliant, I tell you! Genius, I say! Why not? Our tastes are soooo similar and I truly use so many of your recipe already.

But ew. I hate nuts in my bread. o.~

Ho my goodness, I can't believe NObody commented on such a tantalizing post. I LOVE figs and will plant some as part of my garden/orchard in the next year or two.

Fun story: After visiting you and eating dried figs, I tried to find some in bulk here. Whole Foods didn't have any, but Fresh Market did -in a huge container that was expensive. I asked the guy if they sold them in bulk and he said no. But then he proceeded to ask me how much I wanted, went into the back, and packaged my own container. I think it was about $4 and that is why I love Fresh Market more than Whole Foods. Here, I mean. I don't mean in general (yes, I do). No, I don't (yes, yes, I really do).

MMM Seeeeeasonaaaaal... I have green beans coming in. If I didn't love the color blue so much, my favorite would be green, because so much of what is fresh and amazing and delicious and straight from the ground is green.

I also did not know fava beans were green. I thought they were brown. Yes, I just gave away that I've never had fava beans. But now I want to grow them... And eat them.

I'm totally planting cherry trees THIS FALL. I told Steve that I was tired of staring at the amazing cherries at the grocery stores that are always too much money. Better to spend the less-than-fifty-bucks, plant a tree, and enjoy my own cherries for free in the years to come.

I will also sell my cherries, for $2 a pound,I'm thinking. Beat that, Walmart! You and your disgusting "cheap" cherries... XD

Thank goodness that this doesn't call for using a boxed cake mix. I love the cookie part of oreos and despise the "creme", so I'm excited to make my own cookies! I may add a tablespoon or two of black cocoa for that dark dark cookie. Yours look lovely, though.

Unfortunately, pasta is not one of my pantry staples. =( All I have are Space Needle-shaped noodles that my mom sent me from Seattle that I'm saving for a very special occasion.

What I DO have are eggs and flour and a pasta machine!! Linguine noodles are EASY! And I just bought broccoli and I have onions and garlic and red pepper flakes. Oh, and chicken I need to use!! YUM!!
